About This Blog

In early 2009, I started a blog that was all about being a new father. There was a companion internet radio program for it. I enjoyed writing the blog and I enjoyed the show quite a bit. But, I fell off for awhile to do other things.

A couple of months ago, I was toying with the idea of bringing it back to life. Why? Simple. I missed writing about the adventure of being a first-time father.

It became time to get off my arse and do something about it.

So here we are: pdx papa.

Some things to know about me and about this blog:

  • I love being a parent more than I could ever have imagined. To me, it’s the greatest thing in the world and I’m proud to be a father.
  • I want to focus on the real, honest parts of being a father: my hopes, my fears, my aspirations for my child and family.
  • There will be no bashing. It’s not productive. It’s not who I am and it’s not what I’m about. Parenting is tough, but it’s also a celebration of all of the things that are good in life.
  • I am a fiercely loyal Portlander (OK, I live in Tigard) and Oregonian. I love living here and I can’t think of a better community for us to raise a child. This community includes parents and people and friends who do not have children — and it will be celebrated at any and every turn.
  • I will be honest. Parenting is a challenge, it’s a blast and everything in between — and it’s important to share experiences.
  • There may be a podcast at some point. I’m not going to rush into it but I will keep you posted.
  • I will put up some of my prior posts, when my son was younger, at some point, so you can see some of the things I was thinking as this journey began.

I’m very happy to be back and I look forward to sharing the journey with all of you.
